Posted by Melissa on December 1, 2006, 12:22 pm, in reply to "Pregnancy " I recently had a baby boy ( a very large one!) last winter, in December 2005. I have CP on only one side of my body (entire left side from head to toe). I found my weight gain was what made my joints sore, not specifically the CP. (I had gained 30 extra pounds during the pregnancy.) My baby was very large, 8 pounds 11 ounces 2 weeks before the delivery date. He was born 2 weeks early only because I had a scheduled C-section. (He was frank breech.) In relation to the C.P during pregnancy... I had to be extra careful with my balance when walking outside on the slippery grounds since it was winter when I was far along in the prgnancy. Just take it slow, make sure you have grippers on your boots, and only go out on slippery days when it's absolutely necessary (doctor appointments etc). That would be my advice to a mother to be with C.P like I was. Also, I had great difficulty feeling the baby's movements (with the exception of his in-utero hiccups! That was one of the only things I could feel). I wen tto the doctor several times to get checked out, and he was moving very acively, and even there at the Doctors, when I could see him moving on the ultyrasound, I still could not feel it. I have no idea if this could be related to reduced sensations on the left side of my body due to my C.P, or not. The Doctors had no idea. My baby is healthy, and so am I. Are you pregnant? If so, I wish you the best of luck! :-) I am finding that several aspects of looking after the baby are challenging, but not impossible. Everything just takes me longer and I have to do things differently than completely able-bodied people. Feel free to contact me. Sincerely,
Hi!
Melissa
